Vladmir Propp born in 1895, died in 1970. Morphology of the Folk Tale was published in Russian in 1928.
Formalist Vladimir Propp developed an analysis that reduced fairy tales to a series of actions performed by the dramatis personae in each story. Propp argued that all fairy tales were constructed of certain plot elements, which he called functions, and that these elements consistently occurred in a uniform sequence.
There are seven main character types. These are the following:
- The hero
- The villain
- The dispatcher
- The donor
- The helper
- The sought-for person (her father)
- The false hero

"Rock my world" by "Michael Jackson" is the video i found in relation to Vladmir Propp's theory. Michael Jackson is the "prince", rescuing his "princess", who he ends up saving her in the end. The villain's are the men in the club, trying to take the "princess" away from Michael. The "helper" in this case is Chris Tucker, as they all run away together at the end.
